Flood warnings are free, and they're the thing that gives you time to act. Here's how to sign up wherever you live.

England, Scotland and Wales: by phone

Call Floodline on 0345 988 1188. GOV.UK says that if you're in England, Scotland or Wales you can sign up, update your details or cancel by calling Floodline. Natural Resources Wales describes it as a service that runs around the clock.

Online, by nation

Northern Ireland

Floodline covers England, Scotland and Wales, not Northern Ireland. NI Direct says you use a single number to report flooding: 0300 2000 100. Read NI Direct's flooding advice for the latest on warnings there.

Sign up for someone else

GOV.UK suggests Floodline warnings can be sent to someone else, such as a relative or neighbour who would help a disabled person act on them. Ask the person first. Add them to the "people and pets" part of your household flood plan.
