Flood plan and protection planner
Checked 23 Oct 2026
Work it out for your home
Worked example
For a house with an upstairs in England, 2 external doors, 1 patio or french doors, 4 air bricks low on the outside walls, where the official checker says medium risk:
- Things to consider: sign up for free flood warnings; think about a property flood resilience survey; flood barriers or flood doors for external doors (2); barriers for patio or french doors (1); air brick covers or self-closing air bricks (4); non-return valves on drains and waste pipes; seal gaps in walls and around frames; raise sockets and wiring at your next refurb.
- A printable flood plan with the numbers to call, where to turn off the gas, electricity and water, and what to move upstairs.
- No prices: measure your doors and air bricks first, then get quotes.

Tell the planner about your home and the result from your nation's official flood map. You'll get two things: a checklist of the protection worth considering, and a household flood plan that prints on one page.
How it works
- We don't look up your postcode. The official maps do that best, so the planner links you to the right one and asks what it said.
- We don't show prices. What protection costs depends on your doors, walls and floors, so measure first and then get quotes.
- Nothing leaves your device. What you type is saved in this browser so it's there next time. Use "Clear it" to remove it.
What the checklist is, and isn't
It lists the kinds of protection that usually apply to a home like yours, each with why it matters and what to measure first. It isn't a survey. If the official map shows a real risk, a property flood resilience surveyor can tell you which of these your home actually needs.
